The Zionsville 11u Green Team, sponsored by the Boone Village Barber Shop won a scheduled nine inning game against Fall Creek. Jacob Pressler pitched two innings and allowed only two runs; Tyler Thimjon pitched two innings allowing one run; Kody Wagner pitched two innings, striking out three and allowing only one run and Joshua Wagner pitched three innings, striking out six and allowing zero runs. Clay Gietl went 4-4, 2 runs and two walks; Joshua Wagner was 3-3, 2 runs and an RBI; Pressler went 3-5, 2 runs and 2 RBIs; Camden Collings 2-5, R and 2 RBIs; Andrew Redman 2-5, Run and RBI and Jake Muller went 1-2, 2 Runs and 3 walks.
The 11u Showcase Green team, sponsored by the Boone Village Barber Shop, beat the Avon Attack 17-10 in a scheduled nine inning game. Combined pitching of Clay Gietl, Tyler Thimjon, Kody Wagner and Jake Muller shut down the Attack. Gietl pitched 3 2/3 innings and Wagner pitched three innings and struck out four. Gietl also contributed at the plate, going 3-3 scoring three times and an RBI; RJ Brow was 3-4, 3 RBIs a homerun and a double; Jacob Pressler went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and scored and Connor Wagoner was 1-2 and scored twice.
The 10U showcase team sponsored by Meridian Title Corporation notched 2 more W's on Sunday to take their record to 13-2. In the first game of the day at Lion's Park, the Showcase Eagles jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second inning, with back to back doubles by Sam Hinshaw and Lucas Brown. Those two lead the way, with Brown having 3 hits and 3 RBI's in the game and Hinshaw getting two doubles driving in 3 runs. Other hits came from Ethan Barksdale-triple, Jake Naspinski, Alec Rheinheimer, Carson Gadd, Hayden Copeland, and Jack Seamands. Pitching for Zionsville were Barksdale 2 innings 3 K's, Brown 2 innings 1 K, Naspinski 1 inning 2 K's, Jack Drake 1 inning 2 K's. Final Score Zionsville 15 Tri West 8.
In Game 2 of the double Header runs were harder to scrape together as both teams defenses stepped it up. For the Eagles, Morgen Roberts and Alec Rheinheimer each had 2 hits. Lucas Brown, Ben Calisto, Carson Gadd, and Jack Drake each added hits. Zionsville always stayed a step ahead of the Bruins, with good defense and solid pitching. Pitching for the Eagles were Calisto 2 innings 1K, Gadd 1 inning, Sam Hinshaw 1 inning 3 K's, Roberts 1 inning 2 K's, Jack Seamands 1 inning 1 K. Final Score Zionsville -5 Tri West -3 Next week the 10 U squad finishes their Season @ the Shelby County Sliders.
The Zionsville 8u team remained undefeated in Sunday Showcase with 2 dramatic wins over Westfield and HSE. In the first game, Zionsville took an early 2 run lead but Westfield quickly erased it with a 5 run 3rd inning. After chipping away at the Westfield 3 run lead, Zionsville had their big inning plating 6 runs capped off by a big 3 run homerun by Spencer Twitchell in the bottom of the 5th. The Zionsville defense held strong in the top of the 6th for a big win against a very good Westfield team. The second game prooved to be all about defense as both teams held strong in the field. Zionsville scored a couple of runs early and never faultered in the field to hang on for a 2-1 win. Luke Nolan had his hand in all 3 of the outs in the last inning to preserve the win. Spencer Twitchell and Luke Nolan were named players of the day.
In first round action of 9U boys Zionsville Little League action, the Claghorn Custom Flooring Giants defeated the Ameriana Bank Diamondbacks 13-2. The Dbacks got on the board first with a walk by JB McHale, a base hit by Hunter Lynch and a steal of home by McHale. The Giants got out of the inning when Braden Burke struck out and catcher Seth Douglas retrieved the passed ball and made a nifty toss to pitcher Tate Eugenio covering home to nab Hunter Lynch trying to score from third and complete the double play. The Giants got on the board in the second inning after three walks and a key single by Gavin Provan. They added 4 more runs in the third after a walk and singles by Trey Jamerson, Ethan Maluccion and Seth Douglas. The Dbacks added a run in the 4th inning when Tyler Hettsmanberger slammed a double and scored on a single by Will Gregory. The Giants put the game away in the fifth scoring 5 runs with Seth Douglas and Dominic Holifield providing the big blows with singles. For the Dbacks, Hunter Lynch had two singles while Caleb Patrick pitched a fine game striking out 5. For the Giants, Ethan Maluccio was 2 for 2 with a single, double and a walk and scored 2 runs. Seth Douglas also had 2 singles and scored twice. Nick Nash had a double. Tate Eugenio, Ethan Malucccio and Seth Douglas combined for 13 strikeouts.
The Zionsville Eagles 11u Green Showcase team, sponsored by Boone Village Barber Shop won a double header against the Indy Diamond Kings. The Eagles won game one 8-0 on pitching and defense. Joshua Wagner and Kody Wagner combined pitching and gave up only two hits in the game, striking out three. Kyle Callahan and Josh Wagner led the Eagles in hitting. Callahan went 2-3, 2Rs, RBI and a double. J. Wagner went 1-1, 3Rs, RBI and a double. In the second game, the Eagles jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the 1st inning and the Diamond Kings fought back scoring seven more runs in the middle innings. The Eagles scored nine runs in the 5th inning and defeated the Diamond Kings 14-8. Tyler Thimjon 1-1, 2R; Kyle Callahan 1-2, R, RBI; RJ Brow 1-3, R, RBI; Jacob Pressler 1-2, 2R, RBI; Kody Wagner 1-3 R, RBI, Double; Dawson Phifer 1-3, R, Double.
The 11U White Eagles split a double-header with the Carmel Pups on June 5. The Eagles lost the first game 12 to 5. The Eagles were led in offense by Sam Gobeyn and Carson Canfield's 2 hits. Canfield hit his first homerun of the season.
The Eagles rallied to win the second game 5 to 4. The Eagles' bats came alive with hits from Will Hobick, Daniel Walter, Carson Canfield, Luke Kidwell, and Derian Cowser. Will Hobick, Simon Swinford, and Luke Kidwell led the Eagles defense with effective pitching.
10U Showcase Team wins Memorial Day Tournament: the 10 Showcase Eagles (view photo on Facebook) sponsored by Meridian Title Corp. battled some tough competition to win the Memorial Weekend Tournament held at Lions Park May 27-29th. The Eagles went 3-1 during pool play earning the #2 seed for the elimination bracket. Pool Play games involved wins over the Noblesville Blaze 11-2, Broad Ripple Lumber Kings 4-2, HSE Red Cats 11-2. The only set back in pool play was a 7-5 loss to the Indiana Eagles. The semi-finals match pitted Zionsville with the #3 seed Lumber Kings. This was a close ball game with the Eagles winning 4-2, setting up a rematch versus the #1 seed Indiana Eagles in the Championship game. Looking for revenge from their earlier setback, Zionsville jumped out quickly to taking an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Zionsville's pitching and solid defense are the backbone of this team. With Ethan Barksdale pitching four innings, striking out 7 batters and only giving up 3 hits and allowing 2 runs. Middle reliever Ben Calisto came in for the 5th, striking out 2 of the 4 batters he faced. Closer Jack Drake came in for the 6th to face the opponent's top 4 hitters. His use of off-speed pitches kept their big bats at bay only allowing 1 hit and getting the next 2 batters, to pop out to Catcher Hayden Copeland and a fly ball to Center Fielder Carson Gadd; before taking a bouncer back to himself for the put out at first to seal the victory. Swinging the bats well for Zville were Barksdale, Calisto, and Sam Hinshaw each getting 2 hits. A few other nice efforts were 2 consecutive SAC Bunts by Copeland and Carson Gadd to move and score Hinshaw from 2nd to home. Ethan Barksdale was named Tourney MVP. Final Score: Zionsville Eagles - 8 Indiana Eagles - 2.
The Zionsville 9U Showcase Team rallied in the late innings to win the second game of their doubleheader to earn a split of their series against New Palestine on Saturday, May 28th. With the Eagles trailing 9-6 entering the bottom of the sixth, Zionsville was able to load the bases with nobody out. Tate Eugenio was then hit by a pitch to score one run, Seth Douglas singled to right to drove in two runs and tie the game. After a walk to load the bases again, Sam Williams lined a single to center to knock in Eugenio with the winning run. Williams had two hits in the game as did Jacob Bedinger who had a single and a double. Caleb Berrong, Tate Eugenio, Eli Everson and Seth Douglas did well pitching for the Eagles.
In the first game, the Eagles fell 10-2 with Sam Williams and Tate Eugenio providing the only hits for the Eagles with Eugenio's single driving in a run. On defense, Williams made a fine catch in deep left to end a New Pal threat and Jacob Bedinger held New Pal scoreless while on the mound. Kevin Berrong made a nice throw from right field to nail a runner at second base trying to extend a single. Caleb Berrong also threw out a base runner at second trying to steal.
The Zionsville Eagles 11u Green Team, sponsored by the Boone Village Barber Shop, played a double header against the Indiana Bulldogs from Brownsburg. The Eagles won both games. The first game they won 21-1 and game two 14-12. The Eagles' pitching was led by Dawson Phifer, Davis Judd, Jake Muller, Camden Collings and Clay Gietl. Andrew Andrew Redman and Judd combined pitching for four innings and allowed only one run in the game. The Eagles who had hot bats in both games were: Joshua Wagner who was 5-7, scored 5 runs, two doubles and four RBIs; Kyle Callahan who was 4-6, scored twice and 3 RBIs; Camden Collings who went 4-5, scored 3 runs, stole 4 bases and had 3 RBIs; Dawson Phifer went 3-4, scored twice and had 3 RBIs and Tyler Thimjon went 3-3 with a double, scored and had 2 RBIs.
The 11U White Eagles split a double-header with Danville on May 22. The Eagles lost the first game 12 to 2, despite strong pitching by Jason Holle, Adam Cash and Luke Kidwell. Sam Gobeyn, Derian Cowser and John Gobeyn (2 RBIs) all had hits. The Eagles rallied to win the second game 9 to 7. The Eagles' bats came alive, with hits from Jack DiPlotti, John Gobeyn, Luke Kidwell, Adam Cash, Carson Canfield, Daniel Walter, Simon Swinford, Evan Gilmore and Bennett Clark. Swinford, Walter, Kidwell and John Gobeyn led the Eagles defense with effective pitching.
The 10U Showcase team (6-1) sponsored by Meridian Title Corporation, flexed the muscle vs the Broad Ripple Lumber Kings on Sunday in Broad Ripple. Weathering two stoppages for Lightning, the Showcase Eagles were not fazed as they had 14 hits in game 1. Ben Calisto led the way with 3 hits. Lucas Brown and Ethan Barksdale each had 2 hits. Pitching well for Zionsville was Barksdale with 3 Ks in 2 innings and Carson Gadd with 3 Ks in 2 innings. Also throwing for Zionsville were Sam Hinshaw and Jack Drake. Those four only gave up 7 hits total. Final Score: Zionsville - 16 Lumber Kings - 6
In game two the hits were fewer but the pitching stayed hot. Leading 6-5 going into the 6th inning, Zionsville took charge with a double by Gadd to start the inning followed by an inside the park HR by Calisto. Barksdale and Gabe Edwards followed with base hits. Hayden Copeland then drove in a run, followed by Morgen Roberts with a 2 RBI hit. That pushed the Eagles out to an 11-5 lead. The Eagles Pitching in this game continued to dominate from the hill. Calisto had 1K in two innings. Jake Naspinski had 2Ks facing only 3 batters. Jack Seamands got the save in the 6th with 2 Ks. The other hurlers also had two nice innings of work for the Eagles were Roberts and Brown. Final Score: Zionsville - 11 Lumber Kings - 6.
The 8u Green Showcase team was scheduled to play a double header in Plainfield. The 8u team was matched up with a tough Plainfield team in the first game. The Green team came out hot scoring the maximum 7 runs in the first inning. Jacob Medvescek had an RBI double to start off the scoring and Cody Copelan had an RBI single to finish the scoring in the first. Thats all the scoring the Green team would need as the defense held the Plainfield team to a single run highlighted by several nice catches in the outfield by Ryan Carr, Cody Copeland, Benton Heerdt and Colin Price. David Novak also had a great defensive play at first base on a hard hit ball. In the second game, the Green team was matched up against New Pal. The Green team kept rolling scoring the maximum 7 runs in each of the first 2 innings before the game was called for rain. Colin Price had an unassisted double play for the Green Team defense. Ryan Carr (3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 4 rbi) and David Novak (2 for 5 with a triple, double and 2 rbi) were selected for the great hitting and great defensive plays.
The Boone Village Barber Shop Zionsville Eagles 11u Green Showcase team split a double header with the Indy Predators. Game one the Eagles won 6-4. Pitching from Dawson Phifer, Jacob Pressler and Kyle Callahan combined for five Predator's strikeouts. Callahan went 2-2, scoring twice; Jacob Pressler went 1-3, triple, scored and had an rbi; RJ Brow went 1-3, 2 rbi's off of a two run homerun, which ended up being the game winning hit. In game two the Predators won 3-2. Jake Muller, Kody Wagner and RJ Brow combined to strikeout four Predators and only gave up three runs. The Eagles could only put together five hits in the game. RJ Brow went 2-2, two doubles and scored; Jacob Pressler went 1-2 and scored.
The Zionsville Eagles 11U White Showcase team played a Mother's Day game against the Carmel Pups. The Eagles overcame a 6 to 1 deficit by scoring 7 runs in the fifth inning and eventually winning the game 8 to 6. Simon Swinford, Derian Cowser, Luke Kidwell and Will Hobick led the Eagles' defense with great pitching. John Gobeyn sparked the fifth inning rally with a single into left field, followed by hits from Sam Gobeyn, Kidwell, Jack DiPlotti, Carson Canfield, Dan Walter, and Evan Gilmore. DiPlotti's hit came at a key time, allowing Sam Gobeyn and Kidwell to score. Kidwell, Bennett Clark, Gilmore, and Canfield also racked up RBIs. Hobick closed out the game for the Eagles, pitching two scoreless innings.
The 10U showcase team sponsored by Meridian Title Corporation, showed its pitching prowess by throwing a no hitter on Friday night at Speedway's Lawrence Park. The Eagles threw 6 different pitchers, using a different hurler each inning. Those who contributed were; Ethan Barksdale 2 K's, Sam Hinshaw 2K's, Ben Calisto 2 K's, Jake Naspinski 2 K's, Lucas Brown 3 K's, Alec Rheinheimer 1K. When the Plugs did hit the ball the defense made the plays needed to get the outs. The Eagles offensively jumped out to an early 9-0 lead after 2 innings. Hits were had by, Calisto 2 with 3 RBI's, Barksdale 2, Jack Seamands 2 with 1RBI, Naspinski 1, Ethan Krone 1, Morgen Roberts 1, Carson Gadd 1. Final Score Zionsville 9 Speedway 0
The Zionsville Eagles 11u Showcase team sponsored by Boone Village Barber Shop played a double header against Plainfield. The Eagles lost game one 11-8 in a time-shortened game. Clay Gietl, RJ Brow, Andrew Redman, Kyle Callahan, Jacob Pressler and Davis Judd all had hits. Brow and Callahan scored twice. In game two the Eagles' Camden Collings, Josh Wagner and Kyle Callahan combined pitching held Plainfield to just three runs and struck out eleven. Collings struck out five batters; Wagner struck out three and Callahan struck out two. The Eagles won 4-3.
The Zionsville Eagles 11U White Showcase team played Brownsburg in a double-header on Sunday, May 1. The Eagles lost the first game 10 to 2. Simon Swinford, John Gobeyn and Derian Cowser pitched for the Eagles. Sam Gobeyn led the offense with a hit and two RBIs, and Jack DiPlotti also contributed a hit. The second game ended in a 7 to 7 tie. Adam Cash and Sam Gobeyn pitched, and the Eagles had a strong offensive effort. Bennett Clark, Daniel Walter, Cowser, Carson Canfield and Sam Gobeyn all had hits. Will Hobick and Walter each had RBIs.
The 10U Showcase team sponsored by Meridian Title Corporation, hosted the Giants from Ben Davis in a double header on Sunday. In the first game the Eagles came out swinging jumping out to a nice lead with 8 runs on 11 hits in the first 2 innings. The eagle hitters were, Lucas Brown 3 hits and 3 RBI's. Ethan Barksdale and Jake Naspinski 2 hits and an RBI each. Ben Calisto and Ethan Krone each added two hits. Carson Gadd, Morgen Roberts, Jack Drake, and Alec Rheinheimer each added a hit. The pitching for the Eagles was done by Barksdale 2 innings 3 Strike outs 1 earned run. Gadd 2 innings, 4 strike outs no runs allowed. Brown 2 innings with no runs allowed. Final Score: Eagles 10 Giants 1
In the second game the Eagles found it a little tougher going only getting 7 hits in the game. The Giants capitalized on a few key errors that allowed them to score some big runs. For Zionsville a spark came in the 3rd down 5 to 1 with two outs and bases loaded Jake Naspinski smashed a triple down the right field line that drove in 3 runs. Having multiple hits in the game were Ben Calisto and Carson Gadd 2 hits each. Lucas Brown had a hit and an RBI. Ethan Barksdale had a hit. Pitching for Zville was Ben Calisto 2 innings 3 Strike outs. Alec Rheinheimer 1 inning 1 Strike out. Also throwing on the hill were Morgen Roberts and Jack Drake for the Eagles. Final Score: Eagles 5 Giants 16 The 8u Zionsville Showcase Green played Brownsburg today at Lions Park.
The 8u Green had the bats going and flashed some leather in the field to take both games of the double header. In the first game, the Eagles got the bats going early scoring 4 runs in the first and had a great diving catch by Jack Schrepferman on defense to end a Brownsburg threat in the bottom half of the inning. That first inning set the tone for both games as the Eagles continued to roll at the plate and make several key defensive plays in the field including 2 unassisted double plays. The first by Colin Price and second by Carson Wagoner. Andrew Paul had back to back catches in the outfield to highlight his day and Jacob Medvescek went 8 for 8 with 7 runs scored and 10 rbis including a bases clearing single in the 2nd game. Jack Schrepferman and Carson Wagoner were name players of the day for some great hitting and outstanding defensive plays. The Eagles won both games, 21-8 and 21-1.
The Zionsville Eagles 11u, sponsored by Boone Village Barber Shop, played a double header against Broad Ripple. In game one, Kody Wagner took the hill for the Eagles. Wagner pitched two innings striking out two opponents. Josh Wagner pitched two innings gave up one run and struck out two. Kyle Callahan pitched one inning and struck out two. Jacob Pressler went 1-3, DBL and scored two runs, Callahan also went 1-3, scoring once and had an RBI. The Eagles lost game one, 9-7.
In game two the Eagles jumped out to an early lead by scoring eight runs in the first inning. The Eagles would score ten more times and held Broad Ripple to no runs. Clay Gietl and Tyler Thimjon combined pitching and struck out six. Gietl struck out five in three innings and Thimjon struck out one in one inning. Gietl also went 1-2 from the plate and scored twice. Thimjon went 1-3, triple and scored three times. Pressler and Callahan went 1-2, Pressler scored three times and Callahan scored twice. Andrew Redman and Camden Collings each went 2-2, scoring twice. Collings had two RBIs and Redman had one. Final score Eagles 18-0 over Broad Ripple.
The 11U White Showcase team won both games of a double-header against Danville on April 10. The Eagles won the first game 8 to 5, with RBIs from Simon Swinford (2), Sam Gobeyn (2), Daniel Walter (1) and John Gobeyn (1). Will Hobick, Derian Cowser, Carson Canfield and Jack DiPlotti also contributed hits. Swinford, Luke Kidwell and Hobick led the Eagles to victory with strong pitching. The Eagles won the second game 6 to 5. Cowser, Sam Gobeyn, Walter, Evan Gilmore and Carson Canfield all had hits, and Cowser, John Gobeyn and Sam Gobeyn each pitched scoreless innings.
On April 17, the 11U White Showcase team split a double-header with Lebanon. Faced with tough pitching from Lebanon, the Eagles lost the first game 9 to 2. Pitchers Bennett Clark, Luke Kidwell and Simon Swinford led the Eagles' effort. John Gobeyn and Jack DiPlotti each had two hits, and Clark and Carson Canfield each contributed one hit. In the second game, the Eagles won 13 to 5. They were led by pitchers Sam Gobeyn, Adam Cash and Evan Gilmore. Cash, Derian Cowser, Simon Swinford, John Gobeyn, Carson Canfield, Dan Walter and Jason Holle all had hits. Members of the 11U White Showcase team are Carson Canfield, Adam Cash, Bennett Clark, Derian Cowser, Jack DiPlotti, Evan Gilmore, John Gobeyn, Sam Gobeyn, Will Hobick, Jason Holle, Luke Kidwell, Simon Swinford and Daniel Walter. The team is coached by John Williams and Troy Hobick.
The Zionsville 8u Green team played at New Pal Little league on Sunday April 17. The 8u team got the sticks going early and often as they put up the maximum 6 runs in every inning of their first game on their way to a 24-5 win in 4 innings against the New Pal B team. In the second game of the double header, Zionsville battled the New Pal A team. In a back and forth game the Zionville team got some timely hitting and some great defensive game to hold onto a 19-12 win. Players of the day were Cody Copeland who was 6 for 7 with 4 runs scored and 2 key defensive plays and Ryan Cochran who made several defensive plays at thirdbase and in the outfield while also going 6 for 7 with 4 runs scored.
The Zionsville Eagles 12U Showcase Team opened the season with a double-header sweep of the Yorktown Tigers. The Eagles took Game One 6-2 and Game two 16-6. Ben Balogh opened the season on the mound for the Eagles, pitching 3 hitless innings before surrendering the mound to relievers Graham Oberweiser and Greyson Roberts. The offense in Game 1 was led by Matthew Fiore with two RBI's. Max Ungar, Jordan Pugh, Jared Carter and Quinn Connor all turned in very solid defensive performances in game one. Greyson Roberts started Game 2 with a two run Home Run. Eli Copner picked up the win followed by a solid relief effort from Matthew Fiore. Defensively the Eagles were outstanding on the day, committing only one error in game one and two errors in game two. Nolan Rank, Matthew Fiore, Sam Huff, Greyson Roberts Max Ungar and Ripken Pacovsky all picked up multiple hits and multiple RBI's on the day.
The Zionsville Eagles 11u Showcase team, sponsored by "Boone Village Barber Shop" played a double header. In game one against McCutcheon Josh Wagner went 2-2 at the plate scoring twice and pitched two innings, Connor Wagonner went 2-2 and scored, Jacob Pressler went 2-3 triple and scored and also pitched two innings and Clay Gietl went 2-3 and rbi. The Eagles lost 10-8. In game two against West Lafayette, Kyle Callahan wen 1-2, triple, RBI and scored and pitched well in middle relief. The Eagles fell 12-3. The 11u team features Zionsville kids who also play in Little League and they are: RJ Brow, Kyle Callahan, Camden Collings, Clay Gietl, Davis Judd, Jake Muller, Dawson Phifer, Jacob Pressler, Andrew Redman, Tyler Thimjon, Joshua Wagner, Kody Wagner and Connor Wagoner. The team is coached by Graig Collings, Randy Judd, Brad Redman and Kevin Thimjon.
The 10U Showcase team sponsored by "Meridian Title Corporation", took the field Sunday Afternoon at Lions Park, to start their 2011 campaign versus the Warren Central Warriors. In game 1, hurlers Ben Calisto threw 2 innings w/ 2 Strike Outs, Ethan Barksdale 3 Innings 5 SO, Jake Naspinski got the save with 1 K in the 6th. A nice catch in Left Field by Ethan Krone followed up by a quick throw to 3rd doubling up the runner preserved the win. Offensively the Eagles got hits from Jake Drake, Lucas Brown, Ben Calisto, Morgen Roberts, Hayden Copeland, Krone, and Naspinski. Naspinski drove in the tying run with a double to the gap with 2 outs and Copeland added the go ahead RBI also with a two out hit. Final Score: Zionsville - 8 Warren Central – 6 The second game continued a strong pitching effort for the Eagles led by Carson Gadd - 2 scoreless innings with 3 K's. Drake, Roberts, Brown each pitched an inning only giving up 1 run each. Closing out the game and getting the save was Sam Hinshaw with 2 K's. Defensively Naspinski made a diving snag at Shortstop top end an inning and keeping a few runs from scoring. The Zionsville 9U Eagles Green played against the Zionsville Eagles White Team to prepare for the upcoming season against area competition. In the first game, both teams played very hard but the Green Team came out on top 13-12. The White team jumped out to a 4-1 lead with runs from Ethan Hobbs-Maluccio, Caleb Berrong, Joe Bilitz and Josh Carney. Carney also pitched 2 great innings holding the Green team to only 4 hits. The Green Team came back with solid pitching from Ian Sands and Cole Wiseman. The Green team rallied with 8 runs in the final 2 innings with hits from Duncan McCourt, Kyle Harmon and Lincoln Horth, all scoring 2 runs apiece.
In the second game, The White Team once again jumped out to a big lead with 10 runs in the first inning. Big hits and runs came from Liam Mills, Jacob Bedinger,Tate Eugenio and Hunter Maxwell. Caleb Berrong held the Green team to only 2 hits in the first 2 innings. But once again the Green team came storming back with a 10 run last inning to win 17-16. Rally hits and runs came from Orin Edwards, Brayden Burke, Zack Pawlowski and Josh Starrett. Sam Benedict pitched 3 strong innings only allowing 3 hits. Both games provided a lot of excitement and helped each team get ready for the season. The 8u Zionsville Green team played a double header today agains Mt. Vernon and New Pal. The Green team started off hot beating Mt. Vernon 19-1. They did not slow down in the second game beating New Pal 20-4. Players of the day went to Alec McCarty who went 6 for 7 with runs scored and 6 rbi along with some key defensive plays at PH and 2B and Andrew Paul who went 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi and recorded 4 assists and 4 put outs at second base. The team is coached by Josh Medvescek and Tom Price and the 8U roster is: Jacob Medvescek, Colin Price, Carson Wagoner, David Novak, Andrew Paul, Benton Heerdt, Alec McCarty, Ryan Cochran, Ryan Carr, Jack Scherferman, Spencer Twitchell, Cody Copeland, Luke Nolan and Colin Nasser.
