Art, Music & Theatre Creativity "Fax" Grants A Success

The Community Foundation of Boone County recently awarded over $8,000 in grants to the arts community. There was an overwhelming response to the art, music & theatre creativity fax grants. Non-profits and public school teachers, pre-K through grade 12 in Boone County were given the opportunity to receive a $300 grant to enhance the visual and performing arts in the community. The purpose of this granting initiative was to enhance the availability of the performing and visual arts in Boone County through music, theatre, dance, & visual arts. The goal was to allow teachers and non- profits to become creative without being hindered by cost.
The following is a list of recipients and the program or project the funds were used for:
- Adams Elementary School - mosaic mural
- Adams Elementary School - acoustic guitar
- Arc Rehab Services - simple musical instruments
- Boone County Child Development Academy - Easy Share digital cameras
- Boone County 4-H - Z-racks clothing racks for contests
- Boone County Historical Society - Victorian costumes for events
- Boys & Girls Club of Zionsville - portable PA system, microphone & stand kit
- Central Elementary School - multicultural artist tapes & art prints
- Central Elementary School - karaoke system
- Eagle Elementary School - CDs, DVD, lummi sticks for rhythm & dance PE activities
- Granville Wells Elementary School - animal puppets
- Harney Elementary School - Joia tubes-set of pentatonic bass tubes
- Harney Elementary School - Two digital cameras for digital art & graphic design
- Hattie B. Stokes Elementary - Visual art videos for classroom & art library
- Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School - ceramic tile mural
- Lebanon Area Boys & Girls Club - costuming for the Lebanon Follies
- Lebanon High School - set of art slides to cover historical ages
- Lebanon High School - digital camcorder for digital design
- Pleasant View Elementary School - costumes & props for drama clubs
- Pleasant View Elementary School - contrabass A for xylophone collection
- Perry Worth Elementary School - glockenspiels & mallets
- Perry Worth Elementary School - books, DVD, visual artist series
- Sheridan Middle School - piano music theory computer software for band
- Sheridan High School - Easy Share digital camera/memory cards/case/tripod for claymation videos
- Sheridan High School - floor monitor speakers for drama club
- Stonegate Elementary School - art related Reading Rainbow DVDs
- Zionsville Middle School - digital camera, picture card & case for band
- ZUMC-Children's Learning Program - misc. art supplies
- Zionsville West Middle School - headworn wireless microphones for theater department
This Arts Fax grant initiative was made possible through a field of interest endowment fund for the Arts, established at the Community Foundation by the Back to the Fifties Festival, Inc. and the Zionsville Kiwanis Club. Additional grant dollars were also made from the Community Endowment unrestricted fund.
