Nominate Your Favorite Philanthropist!

The Aaron Stookey Spirit of Philanthropy award will be presented by the Community Foundation of Boone County at the Boone County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on Monday, November 10.

The award annually recognizes the individuals and/or businesses in Boone County that are exemplary in their philanthropic activities.

Nominations are requested from the public. To nominate your favorite philanthropist, write a letter and include the nominee's name, address and a brief background describing why your candidate deserves such recognition. Letters are due by 4 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2008. You can mail the letter to the Community Foundation at P.O. Box 92, Zionsville, IN 46077, FAX it to 317-873-0219 or .

Nominees should have a broad base of charitable activities. A nominee should have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to local charities; setting a positive example for others by her or his leadership and volunteerism as well as financial support.

Boone County's Spirit of Philanthropy honoree will be presented with a commemorative plaque and a nominal cash award to be presented to the honoree's charity of choice.

Past recipients have been: Pete & Sandy Obremskey, Stanley & Charlotte Beck, Dr. Russell W. Hardin, Margaret Larr-McFrye, Steve Snider, Kent & Charlotte Frandsen, Ralph Beam, Mabel Higgins, Bill Jennings, Robert V. Copeland, Virgil Benge, National City Bank, Aaron Stookey and Richard Lenox.
