- Book Readers and Horn Blowers (BRHB) - A BRHB concert is planned from 7-8:30 P.M. in the Thorntown Elementary Gymnasium for all children in grades K-5 and their families. The Community Foundation of Boone County has approved a grant for this not for profit corporation to give four interactive educational reading concerts in Boone County. With this funding and the joint efforts of Thorntown Elementary School's principal, Gary Lanpher, Thorntown Public Library's Youth Department, The Friends of the Thorntown Public Library and other organizations and businesses, this group will dedicate their program to encouraging children to read and will provide them the opportunity to explore their interest in music. A narrator will read a book about Harriet Tubman using Faith Ringgold's book, AUNT HARRIET'S UNDERGROUND RAILROAD IN THE SKY. A professional brass quintet will accompany the narrator with appropriate music. After the concert children will have the opportunity to interact with the professional performers and to experiment with musical instruments. Each child receives a free book as a gift. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Thorntown Public Library.
