The Boone County Genealogical Society (BCGS) in Boone County, Indiana was established in 1997.

Our Mission Statement:

The chief purposes are to investigate, collect, record, publish and deposit in libraries and archives the genealogical and historical materials of Indiana, especially those pertaining to Boone County, Indiana, and the adjoining counties, and to educate members in the use of these and other reference materials in preparing and publishing genealogical materials and family lineages.

The BCGS maintains a partnership with Boone County libraries. Currently, meetings are held at the Lebanon Public Library, Sullivan Munce Cultural Center (Zionsville), Thorntown Public Library and/or Hussey-Mayfield Library (Zionsville). Please see agenda on the "Our Meetings" page. The monthly meetings are always open to the public.

There are several ways in which you may participate in the BCGS:

1. Become a member. Annual Dues are only $15.00.

2. Attend meetings. This is an opportunity to network with fellow genealogists who share the same interest as you. Several programs are offered throughout the year on a variety of genealogical and family history topics.

3. Volunteer. Cemetery restoration, indexing, and many other projects are available as volunteer opportunities.

4. Make a tax deductible donation to the society (NEW!!!)

Genealogy Research in Boone County

All research is conducted by Boone County Genealogical Society volunteers using available indexed sources and reference material in Boone County Libraries. Please send your name and mailing address, (e-mail if available) with your specific request including as many details as possible with a limit of one surname per request.

RESEARCH FEES

For each request the FEE is $6.00 PER HOUR or any part thereof. Additional costs are .75 for microfilmed copies, .25 for photocopies plus postage.

Newspaper research is performed using microfilmed copies of Boone County newspapers that are available in Boone County libraries.

Please send your name, address, telephone number and email address (if available) along with your research request. Before the requested information is sent to you either by e-mail or postal mail, you will be contacted and required to send full payment for research to:
